ULTIMATE NY DIET - progress

Just an update.  We (Angie, Joe, Crystal and I) have been on this diet for a month.   None of us have been hungry and we're all feeling much better than before.

Angie has lost several inches and about 9 pounds - but she also swims and bikes everyday, and we know that muscle weighs much more than fat - so her benefit has been great.     More important than the weight and inches is the fact that she's been without any diabetes or hypertension meds for over a month and she hasn't taken her beta blockers for the PVCs in a couple of months.     She hasn't had any PVCs that she could tell (and she was getting them often - even while taking the blockers).     Her BP has been staying about 138 /75 and her blood sugar has been consistently staying under 120 (some days even below 85) and usually under 100.   She feels better and looks great!

Joe has lost so much weight that he has had to take his wedding ring off and he'll need to get it resized.  He's where he should be now - and he looks and feels great.

Crystal also has lost all of the weight I put on her when they moved in with us 2 months ago.  In the first month, my cooking fried taters, alot of red beef, pancakes, bacon, etc... bumped her up by about 8 pounds and she's lost all of that, plus 1 or 2 more.  She too has done great on this.

I've lost about 13 pounds (started at 186 on the doctor's scales and 180 on the ones we have at home) and about 4 inches in my waist.   The Self men have a tradition when we put weight on, it goes on the belly and protrudes.    I can now see my feet without bending over or leaning forward - so that's a nice improvement.

Now - none of us have been 100% compliant - becase we have had a couple of birthdays (sugar free pound cake with strawberries and sugar free topping), and even had ice cream once this month.      We've done without beef, potatoes, starch, dairy, corn, butter (yes - I know it falls within dairy - but I used to use a whole lot of it) and sugar.  I haven't put any sugar in my coffee in about 2 weeks and I'm used to Splenda now.    We only added apples about a week ago as we were also avoiding fructose, sucrose and lactose.

So - that's where we are now.   We're on the right track.
