Journeys of Don, Angie & Cookie: Smokey Mountain National Park
Smokey Mountain National Park
Everyone should make this place a destination they will someday visit. It is beautiful and serene. Yesterday, we drove about 9 miles from where we were staying to the entrance of the RMNP and parked (without Cookie as they do not allow dogs on the walking trails) and Angie and walked about 3 hours on the trail (2 hours up the trail and 1 hour to get back to the truck, as it was easier coming back down - obviously). We took alot of photos on this trail, saw dozens of waterfalls (almost all were cascades) and an unbelievable number of butterflies. The trail followed one of the streams that feeds into the Little River, the entire way. There is a large waterfall at the end of the trail, but we only made it about 2 miles up the trail before turning back.
Here are a few photos we took along the trail.
ok - that's a lot of photos - but we did quite a bit of walking too.
Today, we moved the RV to Pigeon Forge to a campground immediately next to a river. in fact, the back left corner of the RV is about 2 feet from the bank that drops down about 14 feet to the river and it is a beautiful spot. Tomorrow, I'll update the blog and include photos of where we are now. Cookie loves barking at all of the ducks and the squirrels - so she has alot here to keep her busy.
