MARCH 10 - ANGIE ON SHIP - DON IS A WORKAHOLIC

Hello folks ( in case anyone still reads this).  It has been a very busy couple of months with work.   First, I'll start with the family.   Angie is doing great and she's on a Disney cruise ship with her 2 sisters (one lives in Napa, California  and the other in New York state)  this week on a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise ship going to Florida Keys, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Disney's Island called Castaway Cay.

She called me as the ship was departing Key West and they were heading south to Grand Cayman, so she'll be out of touch till next Saturday when they get back to Florida.

She'll be home next Sunday (Cookie wishes she was home now as she sits by the front door waiting for moma to come in).   All of my sons are in good health, as are our 2 daughter-in-laws and both of my grandchildren are growing much too fast (Dalton is 4 and Monika is 10 months).

My dad's health is good and each week he goes to what is primary a 50+ dance (Country, 2 step, 3 step, but he won't waltz or line dance) and I went with him last night.    He gets surrounded by all of the widow women (the odds are probably 7 to 1 (women to men) at least and I promise that my legs are still hurting tonight as I write this - but it was a lot of fun.  I do not know how to dance.  Angie says I have absolutely NO rhythm and she is right - so - those poor women that I danced with last night (probably about 40 overall) had to suffer through it - but it was alot of fun.    The youngest I think I danced with was probably about 40 and the oldest was about 92 (she moved better than I did), and it was quite an experience.    The average was probably 70 and everyone is dressed country.  (Yes, I wore my boots and my hat)   No booze.  No cigarettes (coffee was 25 cents and soda was 75 cents) and it really was fun.  Now - whether I'll be able to talk Angie into going next week will be another story (although some close friends of ours said that if Angie goes - they will also).

Business has been phenomenal.   Keith (my partner who lives in Marietta, Georgia) is absolutely brilliant - but especially when it comes to lab.   We've pretty well perfected a system of helping almost ANY family, internal or geriatric practice.   Rarely is the amount that we're able to help them in our free phone calls less than $15,000 per month and some will blow your mind.   For instance, several months ago, we spent about 90 minutes on the phone with a 5 doctor practice in Arkansas and increased their income since then by about $42,000 per month..... NET.     2  weeks ago, we spent about 90 minutes on the phone with a solo physician in south Alabama and she'll see about $19,000 a month increase in her NET income.   She really deserves it too.   She reminds me of another client we have in Rhode Island that are phenomenally nice and their desire to help their patients is so overwhelming.  It is SOOOO REFRESHING to deal with people like this that do not think they know it all and are not afraid to learn something so that it will benefit their patients.

A few weeks ago, I was in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at the Florida Osteopathic convention and talking to a doctor that was referred to us by a client that we've helped in south Florida.   He asked me how I could help him and I explained that we would need to schedule a free one hour appointment to talk to him on the phone or we could schedule it for that evening or the next and we'd meet in the coffee shop.  His words are "no - just tell me what to do to increase my income".  I knew then that I had either a jackass or an idiot sitting there with me - but at that point I wasn't sure which one.   I discovered a little later that he fell into both.   I explained that in the hour, I would ask all kinds of questions about his practice to see what he was doing, how he was doing it, what kind of patients, what insurance, what diagnosis he saw and treated most often, which diagnostics, what lab, etc...   He said that I could talk to his staff to get that information and I said "NO WAY!"    I know without a doubt that I will almost ALWAYS increase a physician's income in a practice by at least $10,000 per month PER DOCTOR if they listen to Keith and I and follow our recommendations and I'm not going to help someone that won't even give me an hour!  No way!   Why should I put another $120,000 to $2,000,000 a year into someone's pocket like that.    So - I told him that I didn't think we could help him as he was one of those "unteachable" doctors.    He got upset and left my booth.   Every once in a while, we'll meet someone like that and MOST of the time (not always - but at least 90% of the time), we'll choose to not work with them as I don't want to waste my time.

Another example was an MD that Keith and I were talking to awhile back.   We started showing the doctor the breakdown of what Medicare and PQRI wanted and pointing out that the doctors in this group were NOT following Medicare's lead.   For instance, they were doing A1Cs on patients every 4 months, yet Medicare and PQRI wants it every 3 months.   They were NOT ordering some tests, they were NOT ordering CBCs even 1.6th of the time that Medicare expects them, etc...   We tried to teach them - they didn't want to learn - so I was ready to write them off and let them go on their way - but Keith kept teaching and I think eventually a couple of the doctors came around and realized that sometimes a NON doctor can teach a doctor something.    So - we helped them considerablly - even though a couple of them will probably never admit it.  The most important thing is that invariably - they will do a better job of helping their patients so some of their patients (maybe not alot) will get better medical outcomes because of what we taught those doctors (even though we were not compensated for all of the hours we spent on them).

A week ago, we spent about 2 hours on the phone with a 6 provider (MD - FP) practice in Illinois and showed them how they can easily increase their MONTHLY income (net) by $49,000.00 (yes - that is $588,000 A YEAR).  Today, we spent another 2 hours on the phone with them and showed them another $53,000 a MONTH just in lab that they've been missing.   Again - the most important thing is not the $102,000 a MONTH that we'll increase their income - but they WILL save some lives and improve some lives while getting better patient medical outcomes and there is NO doubt of that.     This practice has been subscribing to my newsletter for several years and just decided to take advantage of our free one hour practice analysis.   Now - if they had done this a year ago - hmmmmm

So - we're having fun and we're helping doctors - but most importantly - we're helping people save lives when they listen to us.   We have another practice in Arkansas that we did a lab analysis with them last week.   7 Providers (FP & Internal).   They've had one of the 2 large lab companies drawing blood in their office (anytime the lab will do this - you're PROBABLY losing at least $40,000 a month and they are making your $40,000 a month on it).   By the end of the analysis - we showed them several hundred thousand a month in increased NET income they will get when they put a lab in their office.  Ok - I won't tell you the exact figure because you wouldn't believe me - but it's large.  Consider that Internal Medicine physicians normally order lab on at least 75% of their patients and it normally only takes 22 patients a day for a 1 doctor lab to be profitable.  Imagine when you have 7 providers and the doctors are smart enough to follow Medicare and PQRI standards!!!

Anyway - we're having fun and the Lord is blessing us and Angie will be home in a few days.  Cookie and I are definitely missing her.
